Blog? What blog?

So, you know when you get so behind that you just don't care anymore?  You think, "Eh, what's one more day of being _______ (or not being _______)?"  That's kind of where I am right now.  Especially in the personal goals department.  However, my children are all still alive and know who I am, so I guess I'm doing something right.
We went to Bali with my mom and aunt Patty when they were here in March, then they came home with us for a while.  My mom for 2 more weeks, Patty for just a few days.  We had lots of fun, drank too much Coke Zero (as always), and did lots of fun stuff.  Try as my mom might, she could not teach Caleb to count during her time here.  Seriously, he's four and can't count to four.  It's worrisome, especially after the Toddler Whisperer tried and couldn't complete the task.  It's really worrisome that she said, "This is worrisome." BUT, he's so dang cute.  He has a great imagination, combined with a hilarious vocabulary from hanging around his teenage brother and sister, so he says things like "You're the zombie and I'm the ninja, and I'm going to use my mad skills to defeat you," or (to the cat) "Get out of here, we don't like your kind!" or (my favorite) to Nate when he's crying, "Be cool, man, be cool."
Nate was sick for the last week of my mom's trip, which was sad because we couldn't go anywhere due his pathetic-ness.  His temperature was up to 105.5, which would normally make me freak out, but thanks to all the soul-less ER nurses I used to work with, I knew what to do.  After working some shifts in the ER before we left the states I learned to evaluate illnesses based on the eye-rolling that my co-workers would do when they saw a similar case.  Kids with fevers was a major eye roll.  Take their clothes off, cold bath, ice pops.  No ER.  Got it.  Point is, Nate was sick for an entire week with a cold that caused a high fever, goopy eyes, nasty cough, poor appetite, and lethargy.  Finally after a week of it I decided to text our American doctor friend to see if I should give him some antibiotics.  While I was texting "He's lethargic and won't eat for a week," Nate mustered the strength to climb up on the counter and dig in to the beautiful apple pie that we were all looking forward to after dinner.  So, we held off on the antibiotics and he was back to himself in a few more days.
Kelly just turned 16.  Yes, driving age.  Good thing we live somewhere that she can't drive, that way I can remain in denial that my sweet girl is nearly grown and will soon be leaving me.  She juggles a ridiculous schedule and still manages to get everything done.  She was even on the A honor roll this semester, much to her surprise.  She's going to Bangladesh this summer for a service trip, and still has quite a bit of money to raise.  But she's not worried about it- which makes me worry more.  Cause that helps, right?
Matt just turned 14.  He has a girlfriend, but denies it.  I know he does by the way she avoids eye-contact with me.  I'm not a fan.  I AM a fan of Matt, however, and how he kisses his brothers good night every night, doesn't care if his clothes match (or fit), has pity on me when we play Settlers of Catan, and teaches Caleb to say "Be cool, man." He's a great kid.  He kind of looks like my brother a bit, which freaks me out.
So there's the yearly birthday update.  The ages are 2, 4, 14, and 16.  We're thinking about preschool and college at the same time.  I can't tell if it's easier this way, or harder.  But I think I'll keep them!
