Comparison is the thief of joy...

...but sometimes it can inspire you to get off your butt and do something. My friend Janet is the most amazing person. In fact, so amazing that I thought about not being friends with her anymore because she makes me feel like a loser. But instead, I thought I'd keep her around and just be inspired by her awesomeness. She has five children (age 9 months to 9 years), homeschools three of them, maintains two website where she sells digital scrapbooking stuff (whatever that entails?), writes two blogs, and last year she wrote an e book in all her spare time. She also is an amazing photographer and takes free photos for all the families around here. She's an awesome mom who doesn't just maintain/manage but actually puts effort into every day. So I thought about how I could be a little awesome-er, like Janet. Well, five kids is definitely not an option, I stink at homeschooling, I don't like scrapbooking, writing a book seems a little daunting, so I decided to do the smallest Janet-esque thing I could find. She does a photo a day for the year, of anything that's in their daily lives. It's pretty neat to look back and see a few small details that might otherwise have gone undocumented. So I'm going to attempt the same thing. Starting late (typical) but still starting! Here's the first three:

Matthew always has a book with him.

Our friend Utih choosing a karaoke song for me to sing. She started out offering me Scorpion or Guns and Roses but we settled on Shania Twain

Nate loves mandarin oranges-he ate 4 for breakfast today and is screaming for more as I type this.
