You may notice that Nate is looking a little yellow. It could be because he's jealous that all the other babies get to hang out with their moms while he has to stay in the NICU. Or, it could be that his jaundice is getting worse. Or, both! The treatment they did for the jaundice was working but now his bilirubin levels (bilirubin causes the jaundice) are going up, and fast. So pray harder, people! He's receiving another infusion of IViG right now, and we're hoping that as the amount of breastmilk he gets increases it will help him get rid of all the bilirubin in his blood. If it continues to rise we will have to think about doing an exchange transfusion, which I've recently learned has a lot of cruddy side effects, so I'd like to avoid that if possible.
On the positive side, he's eating well and all his vitals are fine. And, he's cute as can be.
Here's a fun fact: he doesn't have fat, wide Hrabar feet. He has long, skinny feet and long, skinny toes. Ha!!
Notice the little yellow strip across his eyes where his mask blocks the UV lights. Kind of looks like he's been punched in the eye...
